Oskar Tomala (b. 1996) - sound artist, composer and multi-instrumentalist based in Copenhagen and Gdańsk. Working in the field of electro-acoustic composition, site specific sound installations and music for motion pictures. Their work focuses on the phenomenology of intensity, ambiguity and possibility as it manifests in the perception of tones, sounds, harmony and other forms of harmonicity.
Oskar is interested in how our ways of listening expending our perceptual experience. His current explorations are oriented towards the research for interaction of harmonic sound with architecture space, by performing with site specific multichannel systems, capturing acoustic resonance and measuring space impulses then by merging with the search in timbres of acoustic instruments, sine waves, white noises and sound processing.
As a composer, Oskar works extensively with just intonation harmony and composes for both acoustic instruments and sound synthesis.

He initially studied Jazz Guitar (BA, Karol Szymanowski’s Music Academy in Katowice, Poland), only to quickly move on to Composition Studies (BA, Stanisław Moniuszko’s Music Academy in Gdańsk, Poland), seal moved to Copenhagen for continue studies of Music Creation program on RMC (MA, Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium).
His most influental for music perception teachers was Catherine Lamb, Peter Ablinger, Paweł Mykietyn, Ellen Arkbro, Marc Sabat and Jacob Anderskov.

He is closely associated with students of The Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School in Katowice and Danish Film Institute. Today he co-leads his quartet ZIEMIA, which was formed in 2019. Since 2020, he was closely associated with the Colony of Artists in Gdańsk.

His works have been presented on stages at national and international festivals such as Rewire Festival (Den Haag), Sacrum Profanum (Kraków) and Organ Sound Art Festival (Copenhagen).
